Then she explained aboutthe various services provided by the internetand shestarted explaining the risks involved while transmitting data through the internet.

The software which are used by the hackers were also elaborated. She explained that the dataweretravelling inside the network in the forms of 0’s and ones, hence it is quite easy for the hackers to access the datas which are confidential.

Various protocols like TCP, IP were explained clearly and also she said that TCP protocol is the most efficient one. The communication via internet was taking place within a fraction of second and all types of communications were possible through the internet. She said that no personal or confidential information should be shared through the internet instead, that messages shouldbe sent after encryption. She said that secret passwords should not be shared even with our best friends since that would be the major cause for hacking. Theseveral methodsthat areavailable for preventing these kinds of hackings were explained clearly. The various job opportunities available for engineers in network forensics department was discussed. The session terminated with queries and the speaker’s brief description on the available ways to solve variousissues caused byvarious networking. The Guest Speaker was Dr.SomaBiswas,Assistant professor of electrical and electronics Engineering, IIISC Bangalore.

                  7               8

She put forth innovative ideas regarding shape analysis and pattern recognition .She taught us about the concept of geometry algorithm and also about the information regarding finger print identification, 3D image modeling .The method of plotting the points of a shadowed image and identifying it was also dealt with. The session was so impressive that everyone keenly listened to her words. This guest lecture was highly useful for the students that it made the students to think about shape analysis and its application for pursuing their project and also the students new ideas by this lecture in the field of image processing. And moreover the students got an new idea to how those concepts can be applied effectively for the future engineering applications.

WORKSHOP ON NI MULTISIM”

The Institution of Engineers (India) ECE Students’ Chapter of MepcoSchlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi organized a workshop on the topic “NI MULTISIM” on 1st October 2015 for the II-year B.E ECE students. The Workshop was conducted by S.AbdulJaffer, A.RamKishan, K.MithunPandi of Final year ECE ‘B’ Section. It was a two hour practical session in which hands on training was also provided for each II year classes individually.

                    9                                               10

The workshop commenced with a brief introduction about the software Multisim. There is difficulty in getting the outcome of the designed project work and the troubleshooting is difficult using hardware. Using this software, troubleshooting becomes simple and correctness of the circuit can also be noted at no cost. In this workshop, initially the various operations involved in Multisim software were explained. Then the steps to practically simulate the circuits and individual training were also given to students for better understanding. Then some basic circuits were simulated using the software and outputs of the designed circuits were observered. After that, the designed circuit in the simulator was transferred to PCB and its 3D view was also visualized. Then a model of PCB was shown and the tedious steps engaged in manual PCB implementation were explained. The need of Multisim was so stressed since it doesn’t hold any difficulties as in the case of manual execution. The entire session was quite interesting for which the hands on training is appreciable. The students actively participated throughout the session and the practical exposure helped them gain knowledge about Multisim. The session terminated with queries which were explained clearly. The workshop would indeed be very useful for the students for efficient execution of their projects.

WORKSHOP ON “EMBEDDED C”

The Institution of Engineers (India) ECE Students’ Chapter of MepcoSchlenkEngineering College, Sivakasi organized a Guest Lecture on the topic “EMBEDDED C” on 31th August 2015 for the pre-final year B.E students. The Workshop was conducted by Mr.M.ArunandMr.J.Dani Reagan Vivek Assistant Professors, Department of Electronics and Communication, MepcoSchlenk Engineering College. With a brief introduction about microcontrollers, the lecture commenced describing the open source hardware platform ARDUINO. Then they elaborated the various types of available arduino boards along with their fields of usage. Then the basic terminologies involved in arduino programming was taught.Basic programs along with the steps of execution were explained followed by the individual hands on implementation. Then the students were guided to write interfacing programs used for various applications. The need of ARDUINO in the embedded systems was stressed as it would yield satisfying results for our project design.By the end of the session,a question was posted to all students to test their level of understanding and the answered students were appreciated. The entire session was quite interesting for which the hands on training given by seniors is appreciable. The students actively participated throughout the session and the practical exposure helped us gain a thorough knowledge. Finally the session terminated with queries which were explained clearly. The workshop would indeed be very useful for the students to come up with their projects in embedded systems.
