Mrs. B.Saroja AP/IT presented a talk on Black box testing techniques and Junit on FN session of 28.11.2017.

In the afternoon session of 28.11.2017, Mr.V. Neethidevan gave a demo and Hands-on session on Unit testing Tools such as Junit, Nunit and TestNG.

On 29.11.2017, the forenoon session was handled by Mr.N.Balaganesh, AP/CSE on the topic, Levels of Testing and practical issues in Software Testing. On 29.11.2017, afternoon session was handled by Mr.V. Neethidevan and Mr. J. Murugachandravel on the topic Web testing tools concepts with demo.

On 30.11.2017, forenoon and afternoon sessions were handled on Performance testing – A Demo for Jmeter and Web driver programs using Selenium was handled by Mr.V. Neethidevan andMr. J. Murugachandravel .

A Four day Workshop on Application Development in Emerging Computing Technologies was conducted from 08/11/2017 to 11/11/2017, by the MCA Department., Mr.K.Kanagaraj, coordinator of the workshop, delivered the welcome address and Dr.G.Chandrasekaran, Sr. Professor & Director, Department of Computer Applications (MCA) inaugurated the workshop.

Mr.K.Kanagaraj, AP/MCA acted as the resource person for the fore noon and after noon sessions on the first day of the workshop. He discussed about the features and advantages of XML and Web Services in the morning. In the afternoon session, the participants were given a hands on training to create virtual machines and to execute programs on VMs created in Amazon and Microsoft Azure. During the second day of the workshop, Dr.G.Chandrasekaran, Sr. Professor & Director /MCA, acted as the resource person. He gave a detailed introduction to Virtual Reality and demonstrated several applications created using VR tools. He also gave a brief overview of the research issues in Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence.

Dr.J.Raja Sekar, Associate Professor/ CSE Department, acted as the resource person for the forenoon session on the third day and he discussed about the importance of IoT and its features. He also insisted that IoT will dominate the human way of living in the future. The afternoon session on the third day was handled by Mrs. D.Kayathri Devi, Asst. Prof. / IT Department of Kamaraj College of Engg. & Technology, during which he gave a presentation on iOS and also implemented simple applications using iOS. The fourth day of the workshop was handled by Mr.S.S.Akilan, AP/MCA. He discussed about the different versions of android and a detailed introduction to the features of android operating system in the forenoon session. During the afternoon session the participants were trained to develop applications using android using IntellliJ IDE.

The workshop was very interactive and all the participants were very happy and found that the program was very effective. During Valedictory, certificates were distributed to the to the participants and Mr.S.S.Akilan, coordinator of the workshop proposed the vote of thanks.

The Third National Seminar on Research Issues in Computer and Communication Networks – 2017 was organized by the Department of Computer Applications, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College (Autonomous), Sivakasi during September 15 & 16, 2017.  Principal, Dr. S. Arivazhagan had made all  the  necessary  arrangements  for  the  national  seminar   .   Convener  of  the  National  Seminar,        Dr. G. Chandrasekaran, Senior Professor and Director (MCA) welcomed the gathering.  He spoke on how such national seminars provide motivation for researchers to carry out novel investigations in the field of computer and communication networks.  Coordinator, Mr. S. Amirtharaj detailed about the purpose of the National Seminar and how research in the networking field has provided this world with state of the art communication technologies.  There were three technical sessions on both days of the National Seminar.

In the second session, Dr. T. Sabapathi, Associate Professor, ECE Department, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, discussed about the Challenges and Opportunities in Optical Communication Networks for doing Research.  He talked about the research areas which have better scope for improving the utility and capacity of optical communication networks in the internet and our network applications.

Mr. G. Yogarajan, Associate Professor, IT Department, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, handled the third session on Research Areas in Wireless Sensor Networks.  He detailed about the optimization methods for enhancing performance of wireless sensor networks.

In the fifth session, Resource Person, Dr. G. Indumathi, Professor, ECE Department, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, delivered a technical talk on the Research Issues in Mobile Cellular Telecommunication Networks.  She discussed about the performance metrics and research areas in 4G/5G cellular networks. 

In the fifth session, Resource Person, Dr. Kannan Balasubramanian, Professor, CSE Department, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, delivered a technical talk on the Research Issues in High Speed Packet Switching.  He discussed about the challenges in design of high speed switches and optimal scheduling schemes to minimize average packet delay. 

In the sixth session, Resource Person, Dr. S. Syed Ameer Abbas, Professor, ECE Department, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, delivered a technical talk on the Research Areas in Heterogeneous Networks.  He discussed about the emerging research areas in cellular networks like Realization of Node Architectures on Adaptive Transmission Protocols and LTE DIRECT.

A Two Day Workshop on “Developing Professional Skills” was organized by the Department of Computer Applications (MCA) for the I Year & II Year MCA students during August 31st & September 1st, 2017. Dr. G. Chandrasekaran, Senior Professor and Director (MCA) was the Convener. Mr. J. Murugachandravel, SlAP/MCA and Mr.S.S. Akilan, AP/MCA were the Coordinators.

The workshop was held at Nano Science & Technology Block Seminar Hall of Mepco Schlenk Engineering College. In the Inaugural function, Dr. G. Chandrasekaran delivered the Inaugural address and spoke about the purpose of the Workshop. Eleven sessions were conducted during the two day workshop.

Neethidevan, SlAP/MCA, handled the session on Best Practices of Learning. Mr. J. Murugachandravel, SlAP/MCA, handled a session on how to develop the group discussion skills. Mrs. S. Geetha, Sr.AP/MCA, delivered a lecture on Agility and Adaptability. Ms.L. Prasika, AP/MCA, handled a session on how to bridge the gap between the Schlenkians and the Industry.

The MCA Department of our College conducted the Tenth National Seminar on Research Issues in Digital Image Processing. A total of 56 participants attended the seminar. The participants were Faculty, Research Scholars and PG students from various colleges of Tamilnadu. Dr. K. Ruba Soundar, Prof. & Head / CSE Department, PSR Engineering College, Sivakasi delivered the inaugural address and released the CD of the seminar.
Dr. G. Chandrasekaran, Director/MCA and Convener of the seminar, presided over the function. Mr.V.Neethidevan, Assistant Professor (Sl.Grade)/MCA and Coordinator of the workshop, delivered the welcome address. Dr. K. Ruba Soundar, handled a session on Research Methodology and Recent Trends in Engineering”, in which he discussed about various problems in research in digital image processing and various tools available.

Dr. R. Ahila Priyadharshini, Associate Professor/ECE, delivered a thought provoking session on Object Recognition Using Support Vector Machine. In her speech, she explained about various methods of object classification and their issues. She also discussed about Support Vector Machine as an object classification method and its features.

Dr. K. Kavitha, Associate Professor / ECE, delivered an impressive lecture on Research Issues on Hyperspectral Image Classification Algorithms. She threw light on Hyperspectral images and discussed about various challenges in Hyperspectral image classification.

All the sessions were very interactive and useful for the participants to carry out their research in several areas of Image Processing. Dr. G. Chandrasekaran, Director / MCA distributed the certificates to the participants.  The Second National Seminar on Research Issues in Computer and Communication Networks – 2016 was organized by the Department of Computer Applications, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College (Autonomous), Sivakasi on September 10, 2016. Principal, Dr.S.Arivazhagan had made all the necessary arrangements for the national seminar. Convener of the National Seminar, Dr.G.Chandrasekaran, Senior Professor and Director (MCA) welcomed the gathering. He spoke about the significance of research in improving the convenience of carrying out our routine tasks. Coordinator, Mr. S.Amirtharaj detailed about the purpose of the National Seminar. He spoke on how the national seminar provides an impetus for dissemination of research ideas in the field of computer and communication networks. Convener, Dr. G.Chandrasekaran released the Compact Disc (CD) containing the Course Material of the National Seminar and Guest of Honour, Dr.G.Indumathi received the first copy of the course material. There were three technical sessions in the National Seminar.

She explained about the performance metrics and resource scheduling based on cross layer optimization in wireless networks. She also discussed about the possible solutions for performance enhancement in wireless networks

In the second session, Dr. S. Muthuramalingam, Associate Professor and Head, IT Department, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai, discussed about the Challenges and Opportunities in Communication Networks for doing Research. He talked about the various research areas which have better scope for improving the utility of communication networks in our day-to-day applications. He also talked about the emerging research areas like Software Defined Networks and Fog Computing.

Dr. G. Sathish Kumar, Professor, ECE Department, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Sriperumbudur, handled the third session on Research Areas in Cryptography and Information Security. He detailed about the ways of pursuing research using concepts like network coding, elliptic curve cryptography, medical image encryption and homomorphic encryption for enhancing information security.

The Department of Computer Applications, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi organized the Ninth National Seminar on Research Issues in Digital Image Processing, on 19-3-2016. A total of 44 participants attended the seminar. The participants were Faculty, Research Scholars and PG students from various Universities and Colleges spread over Tamilnadu. Principal, Dr. S. Arivazhagan had made all the necessary arrangements for the national seminar. Convener of the seminar, Dr. G. Chandrasekaran, Senior Professor & Director(MCA) recalled about the previous versions of the seminar and how Image Processing is highly relevant in our day to day life. The Chief Guest Dr. S. Ravi, Professor, School of Computer Science, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry delivered the inaugural address. He gave many suggestions to research scholars on how to carry out investigations in various Research areas of Digital Image Processing like Image Segmentation, Remote Sensing, Bio-Medical imaging, Computer Vision, Multi resolution techniques and Video Analytics. He also advised young researchers to start with a simple problem and then find a solution and explore.

            Dr. D. Selvathy, Professor, ECE Department, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College handled a session on Application of Genetic Algorithm in Machine Learning Technique for Image Processing. She briefed about the key stages involved in Digital Image Processing and how soft computing techniques could be utilized to improve the results obtained using the various image processing algorithms. Dr. S. Anand , Associate Professor, ECE Department, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College handled a session on Medical Imaging. He gave a comprehensive overview on the various medical images used by hospitals and the techniques used by the imaging equipments, like image enhancement and presenting outputs in useful formats for the doctors, to decide about the health condition of the the patients. Dr. S. Ravi, Professor, School of Computer Science, Pondicherry,handled a thought provoking session on the various algorithms used in the field of Bio Metrics and its applications like authentication. All the sessions were more interactive and beneficial for the participants to further improve their research work in several areas of Digital Image Processing. Dr. S. A Two day Workshop on Developing Professional Skills was conducted on 17th & 18th October, 2014 by the MCA Department. Mr. S. S. Akilan, AP/MCA acted as a resource person for the first session on Android and its Applications. Dr. K. Muneeswaran Sr.Professor & Head / CSE delivered a lecture on E-Learning. Dr. N. Sivaram Professor / CSE delivered a lecture on effective communication. Mr. K. Kanagaraj AP(Sr. Grade)/MCA talked about Developing Programming Skills. Mr. V. Neethidevan, AP(Sr. Grade)/MCA talked about Best practices of Learning. Dr. G. Chandrasekaran, Sr. Professor & Director / MCA shared his experience about Developing Note-taking and Examination Skills. Mr. S. Amirtharaj AP(Sr. Grade)/MCA, motivated the students about Evolve Towards Campus Placement to the students.  Dr. P.Radha , Associate Professor / MCA talked about problem solving skills.  Dr. B. Rajendran, Sr.Professor & Head/MATHS delivered a lecture on Developing Analytical Skills.

One day Workshop on Middleware Technologies

A One day Workshop on Middleware Technologies was conducted on 23/08/2014 (Saturday), by the MCA Department. Dr.S.Swamynathan, Associate Professor, Department of Information Science & Technology, Anna University Chennai was the Resource Person and Chief Guest for the Inaugural function. Dr.G.Chandrasekaran, Director of MCA Department and Convener of the workshop welcomed the gathering. Mr.K.Kanagaraj, Asst. Prof. of MCA Department and Coordinator of the workshop, introduced the chief guest to the participants.

A total of 100 participants attended the workshop out of which 60 were MCA Final year Students from MEPCO and another 40 were faculty and PG students from Engineering and Arts & Science Colleges. During the Fore Noon Session RMI and EJB were discussed. During the Post Lunch Session COM , CORBA and .NETwere discussed. The program was very interactive and all the participants were very happy and found that the program was very useful. During Valedictory the Resource person distributed the certificates to the participants and Mr.K.Kanagaraj, Asst. Professor of MCA Department, proposed the vote of thanks.

Seventh National Seminar on Research Issues in Digital Image Processing

The Seventh National Seminar on Research Issues in Digital Image Processing was conducted on March 15, 2014 by the Department of Computer Applications (MCA), under the continual guidance of the Principal, Dr. S. Arivazhagan. Dr. R. Murugesan, Director, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Chettinad Academy of Research and Education, Chennai was the Chief Guest for the Inaugural Function. Dr. G. Chandrasekaran, Senior Professor and Director, MCA Department, spoke about the Seminar and Dr. S. Rajesh, Assistant Professor, MCA Department and Coordinator of the National Seminar delivered the Welcome address. Dr. R. Murugesan released the CD containing the course material of the National Seminar and Dr. G. Chandrasekaran received the first copy.

Dr. R. Murugesan was the resource person for the first technical session on Big Data Challenges in Image Processing. Dr. S. Rajesh was the resource person for the second technical session on Satellite Image Processing. Dr. S. Wiselin Jiji, Professor & Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Dr. Sivanthi Adithanar College of Engineering, Tiruchendurwas the resource person for the third technical session on Medical Image Processing. Sixty participants, including Faculty and PG students from different parts of the country participated in the National Seminar. The Chief Guest of the Valedictory function, Dr. S. Wiselin Jiji distributed certificates to the participants.

Two Day Workshop on Mobile Services & Android Applications

A Two Day Workshop on Mobile Services & Android Applications was organized by the Department of Computer Applications (MCA), Mepco Schlenk Engineering College during December 23 & 24, 2013.

Dr. G. Chandrasekaran, Director (MCA) and Convener of the Workshop, welcomed the gathering. Mr. S. Amirtharaj, Coordinator of the Workshop gave an Introduction about the Workshop. Dr. S. Arivazhagan, Principal, delivered the Inaugural Address.

On the first day, Mr. S. Amirtharaj, Assistant professor, handled sessions on Mobile Communication, Mobile Services, GPRS, Wireless Application Protocol and Mobile Application Development using Wireless Markup Language, WML Script and J2ME. On the second day, Mr. S. S. Akilan, Assistant professor, handled sessions on Android Operating System and Android Application Development. Hands-on Training in Mobile Applications Development was also provided to the participants on both days.

Sixth National Seminar on Research Issues in Digital Image Processing

      The Sixth National Seminar on Research Issues in Digital Image Processing was conducted on March 16, 2013 by the Department of Computer Applications (MCA).  The Resource persons for the National Seminar were Dr. R. A. Alagu Raja, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai, Dr. B. Sathya Bama, AssistantProfessor, Department of ECE, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai and    Dr. D. Selvathi, Professor, Department of ECE, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College.

Around 80 participants, including Faculty and PG students from different parts of the country participated in the seminar. Dr. S. Arivazhagan, Principal Mepco Schlenk Engineering College was the Chief Guests for the Inaugural Function. Dr. G. Chandrasekaran, Director, MCA Department, spoke about the Seminar and Mr. S. Rajesh, Assistant Professor, MCA Department and Coordinator of the National Seminar delivered the Welcome address.
