Raising Standards in Language Teaching and Communication Science in English

The National level conference on Raising Standards in Language Teaching and Communication Science in English, scheduled on 7th February, 2015 aimed at providing an opportunity for the English faculty members in colleges and research scholars to share their master experiences. It aimed at exploring the pedagogic strategies for igniting a never ending chain of learner’s initiatives towards sustaining, reinforcing and enhancing the skills of learning and acquiring English language.

            The conference began with the prayer song. Dr.K.Rathiga, HoD/English welcomed the gathering. The conference proceeding was released by Dr.J.Samuel Kirubahar and the first copy was received by Dr.M.Rajaram. The conference was inaugurated by Dr.J.Samuel Kirubahar, Asso. Prof./English, VHNSN College, Virudhunagar. He was focussing on Language learning using modern technologies like computers with internet facility,  The key note address was delivered by Dr.M.Rajaram, Asst. Prof/English, Government Arts College, Karur. He gave the lecture on the topic “Multiple intelligence”. He was focussing on communication skills and honing the skills through various learning techniques. He motivated the teachers through sample videos about different teaching methodologies.

            67 Papers prepared by teachers, research scholars and students were presented in four venues. Most of the paper reflected globalization and  the usage of facilities available through internet and the importance of English in the recent scenario.

            Mrs. N.Kalaimathi, HOD/English, VVV College, Virudhunagar, presented the valedictory address and highlighted the common errors in English and pronunciation. The certificates were distributed to the participants. Mr.R.Naganathan, AP/English, MSEC, proposed the vote of thanks. The conference ended with the National Anthem
